THR Chapter 50: Yakuza. Part eight.

The Yakuza boss who hoarded a lot of money was hiding in a business hotel.

Sor us to get there we got in a taxi and me, Abeno-senpai and Sakaguchi-san took seats in the back.

“Rather, what is this about pillaging!?”

“Explaining that… The driver is in the way. It’s a bit of a shocking story for ordinary people.”

【Skill:Spatial break has activated】

“The air vibration in a certain range has been cut off. With this, we can’t be heard.”

“Your skills are truly convenient, aren’t they?”

“So, what is it about?”

“Abeno family and also the Vatican are underground organizations.”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

“And then the Yakuzas are also an underground organization.”

“Abeno family’s succession is not subjected to the general civil law. That old inheritance system is recognized as an independent system.”

“I can’t follow what you’re trying to say…”

Abeno-senpai slightly sighed.

“That’s why you’re a bitch bastard.”

Ah, I came back to bitch bastard from bitchy shit bastard.

It seems from finding the location of the Yakuza boss has made her anger fall considerably.

“So, what does all that mean?”

Sakaguchi-san interjected.

“Are you an idiot? Is that it? Are you an idiot on the level of water fleas? Why can’t you guess from what has been said until now?”

“I don’t want to be called that from you, but…”

“Haa? I’m a transcendent beautiful genius maiden!”

“Genius.. Ah, now that you say it, you did get a PhD in the USA.”

Sakaguchi-san puffed herself with pride and then nodded.

“Basically, we have extraterritorial rights.”

“Extraterritorial? The common law doesn’t apply to you…?”

“In the old days, the founders of our exorcism organizations… had unbelievable personal power in the civilizations they were in. The shamans in old Japan had enormous political power, you know?”

“The animism fellows. Afraid of the power of nature and spiritual worship…”

“To disperse chaos usually that explanation is given, however, the truth is different. Basically, Shamans… They ruled with overwhelming violence with the support of their unusual powers.”

Well, I wonder if Abeno-senpai’s and Sakaguchi-san’s power is like the age of the Annals of the Three Kingdoms, no rather, they’re one foot in to being a one soldier thousand troops like the ones in Annals of the Three Kingdoms.

At any rate, I’m certain that average people can usually do up to hundred slashes.

“And then the level of civilizations has advanced, weapons and strategies have advanced too, and the absolute place of the unusual power holders has crumbled. However, we have power that we cannot be ignored by the governments of the world.”

“So it’s impossible to deal with terrorism on individual level or level dozens of people. And yet, fighting against the armies of the governments is also unpleasant for the unusual power holders…?”

Sakaguchi-san whistled *Hyuu*

“Hee, you can understand that much, can’t you? I’ll revise from calling idiot on the level of water fleas?”

“Thanks for that.”

“I’m just revising it. It seems you have the intellect of an anthropoid ape.”

“Isn’t that mean!?”

Abeno-senpai created a startled expression.

“What’s wrong, Abeno-senpai?”

“I’m 76 however… I’m treating you on the level of Australopithecus, you know? Being called anthropoid ape is a compliment from Lela Sakaguchi… Absurd… Are you embarrassed?”

“You’re all just absurd!”

To be embarrassed from being called ape or bitch bastard…

My headache is becoming stronger.

“So, around the time before the WW1 a mutual non-aggression pact had been called for. A mutual non-aggression pact, okay?”

“Mutual non-aggression?”

“We mustn’t intervene more than necessary with normal people, nor assault the government and we won’t appear in history and finally not hinder the government. In return we aren’t shackled by the governments— Basically we’re like diplomats.”

“…I see.”

“However, overdoing it with normal human opponents… and cases like illegal acts and violence which have been recognized as such then the top-levels of both organizations will conduct special trials. However—”

“However?”

“If it’s about dispute between underground organizations then it’s a different story. Basically, you’re free to do as you please.”

I gulped.

“Yakuza is also an underground organization and… Abeno family is also an underground organization…”

“That’s correct. Even if there’s murder there’s no law that can apply.”

“But, how did it become like gold-rush or get rich quick scheme?”

“If murder is allowed then stealing and plunder is naturally also allowed. And then the Yakuza has piled up a lot of dirty money. And yesterday… I was doing things behind the scenes. As expected, it’s also absurd to recognize that lower branch as an underground organization who’re not much more than hooligans.”

“I see.”

Sakaguchi-san interjected herself happily.

“Basically, what we’ll do is trampling them!”

“Trampling?”

And then she puffed her chest and took a deep breath.

“Ladies and Gentlemen! What is our purpose!”

Sakaguchi-san talked like this was a play and Abeno-senpai also replied likewise.

“It’s trampling! Trampling of those who bully the weak! Your excellency!”

Excellency!?

Ignoring me completely, Sakaguchi-san responded to Abeno-senpai.

“Yakuza have no value! What is the thing that we should do! It’s trample! Sweeping societies trash! We’ll take their money! Steal their dignity! Steal everything they have! Trample the vulture that flock to the weak!”

Uoo… I don’t understand well but her speech started to look like Hitler’s style.

“People! I love money! I like money saved by scams! I love money saved by smuggling drugs! I love money saved by insider trading! I love to seize money earned by dirty means!”

And Abeno-senpai raised her right hand and began yelling in the inside of the taxi.

“Money! Money! Money!”

“Steal! Steal their money! Yen! Dollars! Euros! Yuans! Australian dollars! Zimbabwe dollars in the trash can!”

“Money! Money! Money!”

“Trample them! Exterminate them! Annihilate them! Break their bones! Cleave their insides! Trample their prostrating heads! Steal! Steal! Steal their money!”

“Money! Money! Money!”

These girls are insane… They are extremely energetic.

Looking at the both of them in high spirit makes me exhausted.

Rather, the both of you should’ve been on bad terms with each other and yet you’re both in perfect sync…

“Rather, is it fine for the both of you to be so gung-ho?”

“What are you on about, Morishita-kun?”

“There might be lackeys in the hiding spot, we don’t know what kind of weapons they have.”

“Certainly I won’t have problems with pistols, there’s a high possibility I can lose if they have several submachine guns.”

“Right?”

“Fufu. However, be relieved. There’s also the Vatican’s treasure… Lela Sakaguchi!”

“Fitting introduction… Fun! Finally Abeno Kaguya has recognized my power!”

Look at the somehow pleased Sakaguchi-san I feel sorry for her.

She’s completely in it or should I say, she’ll be used nicely, won’t she?

This girl is probably the type who’s intelligent but not wise.

And leaving that aside, Sakaguchi nodded.

“Well, if it’s me I won’t lose against submachine guns. I also have automatic recovery.”

“Then, Sakaguchi-san?”

“What?”

“What will you do if the opponent has more powerful weapons?”

“Certainly I can’t laugh if I get hit directly by an anti-tanks rifle.”

And Abeno-senpai smiled.

“Then it’s the turn of the— Hero from the different world. I brought you for ultimate insurance.”

“Eh!? Me!?”

Before I knew it, I had been among the members for the hunt of the yakuza.

And we had arrived at the business hotel where the Yakuza boss is hiding.

    Thanks for the chapter.

“I’m 76 however… I’m treating you on the level of Australopithecus, you know? Being called anthropoid ape is a compliment from Lela Sakaguchi… Absurd… Are you embarrassed?” <- Something about this line seemed wrong to me. I managed to find the original, so I gave it a try and found what was wrong. First, the following line:

“I’m just revising it. It seems you have the intellect of an anthropoid ape.”

should have "troglodyte" instead of anthropoid ape (while kanji by kanji it means "monkey of the human genus", it refers to Paleolythic Homo sapiens, also known as “cavemen”).
Then, the line that I was originally reviewing would mean:

“Even I who am in the 76 percentile… I’m told I have intelligence on the level of an Australopithecus, you know? For Lela Sakaguchi, the word troglodyt may be a compliment… Wait… Don’t tell me… She’s smitten?”

and that in turn makes this other sentence:

To be embarrassed from being called ape or bitch bastard…

    into:

To be called bitch bastard or troglodyte because they are smitten…

She’s treating his intelligence on par of the Australopithecus, and her 76 is a rank on the Nation-Wide Exams, she’s trying to implicit that he had gotten embarrassed from being complimented. It was mentioned that she was smart, too.

Also, going by the last sentence I gave and the fact that she singled the word “troglodyte” (which is higher than Autralopithecus), I think she’s comparing Lela’s evaluation of Daiki and her choice of words with her own back whe she upgraded him from “bitch bastard” to just “bastard”.

The interesting thing here is, は is a topic setting particle i.e. X is Y.
The words such as anthropoid ape judging by her(Lela Sakaguchi’s) standards are a compliment…(Topic hasn’t changed)… Wait, you’re embarrassed from them? (The previous topic was his intelligence and then adding additional info.) That’s how it would go if we do a literal transliteration.

        類人猿という言葉はレーラ=サカグチからすると賛辞なのよ

The topic is “the word ‘troglodyte'”, followed by “when coming from Lela Sakaguchi”, then “it’s a compliment” and end of sentence. Afterwards she adds “… wait… don’t tell me…” and then the exact same word she used in chapter 12 to explain the upgrade in her addressing to Daiki.

        For 類人猿 = “troglodyte”:
        http://classic.jisho.org/words?jap=%E9%A1%9E%E4%BA%BA%E7%8C%BF&eng=&dict=edict
        (2nd meaning), then:

        first sentence (definition)

Then she probably would’ve used 穴居人 or 原始人 which are both caveman/primitive man/ troglodyte. And でれてる have more than one meaning, it can be love-struck, affectionate, mushy, slovenly, embarrassed, dallying depending on the context that it is used in. Also when the topic is set with the particle は, everything after it is additional info to the mentioned topic until a new one is introduced.

Let me give you an example with でれ with a godan verb conjugation となる:
        彼はきれいな女性を見るとすぐにでれーっとなる
He 「gets all mushy [goes all gooey] as soon as he sees a pretty woman.
Another example of contextual meaning translation of a sentence.
        また希望が出てきた
        My hopes revived.
